Candle safety (& tips!)

  • Feral Witch candles are made by hand and are meant to be enjoyed. In order to get the most out of your candle, we recommend trimming the wick to 5mm before burning.

It is important to allow the entire surface of your candle to melt the first time you light it. This ensures you get an even burn each time you use your candle.

  • Some spells call for the prolonged burning of candles— this is not the case for any Feral Witch Spell Candles. Our candles are handmade and meant to enjoy over time, so burn them for only as long as you can keep your eye on them. We recommend burning for no more than 4 hours at a time.

  • Pets and children can be awfully nosey, so be sure to keep your candle out of their reach.

  • Your candle may come topped with herbs or other special curios like crystals or jewellery. Please do not attempt to remove these items while your candle is lit. They will loosen naturally as your candle melts.

  • The best place for a candle is an open, draft-free space. Always keep your candle away from drapes, or other flammable items.

  • Some traditional spells require a candle to be burned all the way down. Feral Witch candles are not meant to be burned in one sitting.

For our DIYs, we recommend using chime candles, tea lights, or birthday candles. If you are short on time, use a smaller candle. If you cannot complete the burn, put out the flame and resume your spell later.

  • Don’t blow out the candle! Snuffing the flame is the traditional method of putting out a candle… its also the safest.
