A pendulum is a divination tool that provides simple, “yes” or “no” answers based on the way the pendulum swings. Anything can be a pendulum so long as a part of it is metal and the end is weighted. If you have a favourite necklace on a metal chain, that can be your pendulum!

Hold the chain with your dominant hand, and dangle it over your open palm— then ask your question!

If your pendulum spins clockwise, the answer is “yes”. If it spins counterclockwise, the answer is “no”. Any shaky movement or stillness means “maybe”. Try rephrasing your question, or asking again later.

Your pendulum should be moving without any effort on your part, but sometimes they swing so wildly that we need to “reset” them between questions!

Your pendulum should always be completely still when you ask a new question. Drop it into your palm and hold it for a moment between questions, to ensure a clear answer.

Pendulums are a great way to communicate with spirit during a casting, especially if you are petitioning a goddess, demon or ancestor. While pendulums are convenient, they aren’t capable of providing detailed answers. I like using mine to confirm whether information is true, or to determine whether spirit is present.
